Wait – Traps Are Allowed Everywhere?

Yes, pretty much anyplace they want.

Current trapping regulations place almost NO restrictions on location of traps. Traps can be set within sight of houses, schools, churches, playgrounds, sports fields, State parks, State Recreation Areas, and public hiking trails – in fact, right in the middle of public hiking trails, groomed ski trails, and groomed snowmachine trails. Trappers are supposed to use common sense and follow voluntary ethical guidelines …

…. but as you can see by the stories, a lot of them do not.

The locations below are just the tip of the iceberg. We have only recently begun collecting and documenting these stories. There are MANY more, and there are also many people who do not want to tell their story in public for fear of retaliation or because they don’t want to relive the pain of the experience.
